Planning your own events
Are you planning an event?

Your responsibilities
As an event organiser your duties include (but are not limited to) planning, ensuring public safety, conforming to legal requirements, and the overall operation of your event.

The Council’s Event Safety Advisory Group (ESAG)
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s ESAG aims to help organisers with the planning, and management of an event and to encourage cooperation and coordination between all relevant agencies. The ESAG is an advisory group however individual members of this group may have powers to require event organisers to comply with their legal obligations.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s ESAG consists of the following organisations: Key Council departments such as: Licensing, Highways, Health & Safety, Environmental Health and Public Protection plus reps from the Police, Fire and Ambulance service.

The group meets regularly throughout the year and dependent on the nature of the event the group may invite event organisers to meet the group to discuss their event. For more information on the ESAG please contact the Council’s Events Officer on 01446 704737 or email: sejones@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

The Vale Events Network
Running since 2009, the Vale Events Network is open to groups and individuals interested in the development and delivery of quality events within the Vale of Glamorgan. The informal Events Network has an annual fee of £50 to join and provides event organisers with up to date advice, networking opportunities and the use of a stock of event equipment which includes heavy duty gazebos, tables, PA, Event Radios, A Frames and fire extinguishers.

Promoting your event
We can also help to promote your event by adding it to our 'What's On' listings on our website or via our social media @visitthevale or FB visitthevale. Simply email Julie Morgan at: tourism@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk with full details about your event.

Are you a performer?
The council's Events Officer is always looking for new performers, bands, craft providers, mobile caterers, bars, and street entertainers, to possibly take part in future council events. If you would like to find out more please email sejones@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

Funding for Events - April 2017
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is offering financial support to event organisers looking to deliver NEW innovative events within the Vale of Glamorgan.  The Council has previously supported many successful events and the local authority now wants to broaden the offer for 2017/18 by helping new independent events to establish themselves and grow.

The Council has available an events grant scheme from which event organisers can apply for funding of up to £3,000. Event Organisers will have to demonstrate that their event meets a number of criteria plus provides some match funding, in order to qualify for funding.

Event grant applications will be reviewed by on a regular basis by a panel, until all the monies have been allocated.
