Nyth Bran

Opened as a holiday cottage after a full renovation in Spring 2016, Nyth Bran is a delightful yet traditional stone cottage, just a few minutes walk from the beautiful sandy beach of Dunraven Bay, in the unspoilt Vale of Glamorgan. Set between the sea and open countryside, it benefits from a traditional pub and a fine restaurant, both within 50 meters. The glorious Heritage Coast coastal path is within 200m, and the nearby town of Bridgend is a 10 minute drive, or easy journey on public transport that runs hourly from outside the cottage. Cardiff and Swansea are within 30 minutes drive, accessed via the M4 some 15 minutes away. Originally built over 200 years ago, Nyth Bran was once part of a larger farmhouse, the end wing of which was converted into a smaller two bedroom cottage. Its natural stone walls ensure it is both cool in summer and cosy in winter, complimented by its wood burning stove. BT Infinity wifi is accessible throughout. The separate large dinning room is perfect for family dinners and long lunches. Guests looking for a truly relaxing break may prefer to dine out however. The fantastic Frolics restaurant ( has delicious original Italian dishes prepared by locally renowned Sicilian chef Franco. The Golden Cups pub has a cosy bar and traditional restaurant, along with a vibrant summer beer garden scene. Both are within 50 meters walk of the cottage. Further afield, but within walking distance, are Franklins Cafe Bar, The Pelican, The Farmers Arms, The Watermill and the fantastic Cobbles coffee house at Ogmore by Sea offering one of the finest hearty breakfasts and afternoon teas in South Wales.
Outside, the cottage has a small terrace to sit and watch the sun go down whilst recovering from a hard day at the beach or countryside walk, of which there are plenty. The Heritage Coastal Path forms part of the all-Wales coastal path; within easy reach are the beaches of Nash Point (and its lighthouse), Monknash and Wick to the east and Ogmore by Sea to the West. Further along the coast and a short drive away are the bustling resorts of Porthcawl and the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ famed Barry Island! Inland, the charming market town of Cowbridge boasts a range of boutique shops and hidden gems. A range of leisure activities are within a few minutes drive, including Golf at Southerndown Golf Club, ridding at Ogmore By Sea, surfing at one of the many beaches or fishing at a number of productive spots along the coast. For the historians, the option to explore a range of ancient ruins and castles across South Wales is too good to miss. And for those needing retail therapy, the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet is just 15 minutes away at Junction 36 of the M4.
