The beach wheelchairs can be pushed across sand without sinking, thanks to their wide wheels and unique design.
There are three beach chairs which are available for loan and are free to use. They can be collected from the beach huts on the Eastern promenade.
Users just need to show one form of photo ID such as a passport or driving licence, or two proofs of name and address such as a utility bill and a bank statement.
Though you can hire on the day, we do advise booking in advance as they are in demand. Call or email before you come so we can make sure they are available when you arrive.
Manual Wheelchairs
There are also a number of regular wheelchairs available for use on the resort.

During the Summer 2018 a pilot project offering Hippocampe Beach/All Terrain Wheelchairs and hoist were available at Barry Island. The project, run by volunteers has now come to an end for the season, but we will advise and and when the service resumes.
There is no cost but donation of £5 was suggested; 30 min slots. Users were asked to bring their own sling if requiring the hoist.
Race Running Dragon have regular events on the Island using the Hippocampe Brach wheelchair. For details including booking contact the number below or follow them on Facebook.
