'Tis the season to Shop Local, and you won't find better places to shop that our Town Centres in the Vale. Cowbridge; Barry, including Holton Road and High Street; Penarth and Llantwit Major are all bursting with the loveliest of shops waiting to welcome you.

And to get you in the sprit of the occasion, here are just some of this things our traders have been planning to get you in the mood....

Vale of Glamorgan traders release Shop Local music track ahead of Christmas

High street traders in the Vale of Glamorgan have released a music track appealing to residents to shop local this Christmas.

‘Shop Local This Christmas’ which is sung to the tune of John Lennon’s Happy Christmas has been released ahead of Black Friday to encourage residents to visit their local high street in the lead up to Christmas.

The track features traders from across the Vale’s four towns– Barry, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Penarth, along with vocals from students in the Vale Academy of Performing Arts.

Meet Santa's Elves at Santa's Post Offices

Check out our Events page for all the events happening across the Vale this Christmas, including not one but two of Santa's Post Office in a couple of the Vale's Town Centres; Cowbridge and Barry.

Santa's Elves will welcome you with stories and fun and invite you to write your letter to Santa. Children on the Nice list will also receive a certificate for being to good.

Our cheeky little Elf will be hiding in one window per town each week in the run up to Christmas. Those that spot him and take a 'sELFie' with the cheeky little man and post to our Vale Town Centres page will be in with a chance of winning some lovely vouchers from some of our beautiful shops accross the Vale, plus be in with a chance of winning a family ticket to one of the great events held each year at Fonmon Castle.

Vale Town Centres 2022 Calendar

Look out for the Vale Town Centres 2022 Calendar and see if you can spot some familiar faces from your High Street. The Calendar will give great ideas throughout the year on how you can find that perfect something for every occasion from your local High Street. Valentines day? Sorted. Fathers Day, Summer essentials, Back to School and even Halloween fun, there are lots of great reasons to keep visiting your High Street throughout the year..

We'll share some photos from the calendar here as soon as its released. Copies will be available from stores accross the 4 Towns this Christmas.

Cllr Lis Burnett, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration from the Council summed it up perfectly when sharing the Christmas music video:

“While this song is a bit of fun, it has a really important message. High street traders across the Vale support our local economy and support our local community. It’s really important that we support them this Christmas. We hope that this music track and video encourages residents to shop local, spend local, eat local and enjoy local this Christmas.”
