Wide activity choice is on offer around the Vale, appealing to thrill-seekers, and equally to those searching for something more serene. Solo travellers, couples, families, and organised groups are all catered for.

Whichever you're looking for, you'll find something to suit, and with so many great venues and inspiring views, they're experiences to remember, and motivate you to continue your Vale adventure...

With fairways that offer fantastic views, the Vale definitely doesn't disappoint.

Great sport, great exercise, great conversation, and of course great club-houses to relax in after your round... We have a considerable choice of clubs too, at St Andrews Major, St Athan, Brynhill, Cottrell Park, Dinas Powys, the Glamorganshire Golf Club, Hensol Academy, Southerndown, Wenvoe Castle, and the Vale Resort.

Or try something new...

Crafts by the Sea at Ogmore-by-Sea offer a range of crafting workshops, from willow-weaving to block printing, and felting to peg-looming, in a soothing setting with sea views.

How about a beginners day at Glass by Design in Penarth, learning the ancient art of stained and fused glass-making, or at Budding Designs Flower Studio in Barry, where you can learn from a qualified and experienced florist, all the tricks of flower arranging.

Rolling waves and water sports...

Llantwit Major, chosen by the Welsh Surfing Federation to host 2023's Welsh National Surfing Championships, is an exposed beach break that has reasonably consistent surf. Some prefer Southerndown for great surfing conditions too.

If you're a paddle-boarder, kayaker or wind-surfer, there are places you can enjoy yourself too, and Watchtower Bay in Barry is an example of a good base, so go ahead and bring your boards and pack your gear for some good times on Welsh waters.

Getting the adrenaline rushing...

If an adrenaline rushhh... is more what you're looking for, kart racing or driving experiences, or track days to show off what your own car can do, are available with Llandow Circuit, or at South Wales Karting Centre.

How about the thrill of being pursued, the exhilaration of out-thinking your adversaries, and experiencing that tightness, that fear, you only get from being uncertain if you'll be next... Try Task Force Paint Ball and Laser Tag near Cowbridge.

Shooting of another kind, with a different, but equally enjoyable foe, can be found at Dragon Clay Sports in Ewenny, at their clay pigeon shooting range.

And  scale new heights at the brand new Boulders at Culverhouse Cross which opened in April'23.

Broadening your horizons...

With views to die for, looking across the water from South Wales to South-West England, a chartered sea-angling/fishing trip in the Bristol Channel might be just what floats your boat. Try Escape Charter Boat Fishing in Penarth. 

Or for views across the channel from a saddle, and much more to see and enjoy around Merthyr Mawr Sand Dunes and Ogmore Castle, you could try Ogmore Farm Pony Trekking Centre
