Bring a touch of nostalgia to your home with a visit to Happy Days Vintage Store, where you’ll find interesting up-cycled items and one-off retro pieces. Sir Anthony Hopkins and his wife Stella Arroyave shopped at the store in April 2021 on a return visit to Cowbridge. They also visited Cowbridge Grammar School where he had been educated. It was during this stay in Wales, that Sir Anthony Hopkins won the Best Actor at both the BAFTAs and the Oscars.

At the centre of this charming town is The Bear which has provided hospitality to visitors for centuries. The menu changes daily, reflecting the best of local produce, and a stunning glass pergola in the courtyard provides the perfect shelter for an al fresco lunch. The family-run Elephant& Bun delicatessen stocks an exceptional range of Welsh and continental charcuterie and cheeses, olives and patés, jams and pickles, wines and cider. Pop by for a delicious salad or homemade Welsh cakes.

Make time in your shopping trip for a visit to the delightful Cowbridge Physic Garden, either to eat your takeaway lunch or simply to relax for awhile. Situated within the medieval town walls, it is a beautiful and tranquil spot right in the middle of this bustling market town. Created and maintained by enthusiastic volunteers, this compact formal garden contains plants which have traditionally been used for medicinal purposes. The entrance from Church Street has a ramp ,and all the paths in the garden are accessible by a wheelchair.
