Accommodation Stock Survey 2023

Vale of Glamorgan - Accommodation Stock Survey 2023

Our primary aim as a tourism department is to promote the Vale of Glamorgan as a viable visitor destination, attracting both day and staying visitors throughout the year.

To be able to do this efficiently, we require your help. It is vital that we know what our ‘product’ is for a number of reasons. This includes:

·        for research purposes

·        to prove the economic benefit of tourism

·        to monitor the trends within the tourism industry

·        to market the destination effectively

·        to work with the sector effectively

·        to ensure we are communicating with the whole trade

·        to ensure we are providing the whole trade the opportunity to communicate with us

In 2019 we did a Bedstock Survey in partnership with Visit Wales so that we have a true picture of tourism accommodation across the region. Our work in maintaining this information continues as new accommodation opens and existing providers close. It is a never-ending process to keep up to date with the changing face of our industry.

The information collected will provide us with an absolute knowledge of our baseline accommodation stock. Individual business information will not be shared with any third party under any circumstances (including internally within the Council) and only aggregate information will be shared with Visit Wales if requested.

The survey will take a maximum of five minutes to complete on your computer/ digitally or if you prefer you can request a hardcopy. Please find below a link to the digital version of the survey.

English Version / Welsh Version

Since 2020 the face of tourism in Wales has changed drastically, and the Vale is no exception to this. Our STEAM reports show the drastic impact COVID has had upon our industry, and the number of planning applications for new accommodation providers show there has been a shift towards investment in new businesses. We really need your help by providing your accommodation details to make sure we know our industry.

Information supplied will inform our STEAM research so it is of vital importance that we get the truest picture of available tourism accommodation that we possibly can. We’re also happy to share our STEAM reports with you whenever you need them.

Why share your information?

All accommodation will be added to the list we provide visitors when they request accommodation. If we don’t know about you, we can’t share your information with visitors
Those that want to can be included on our destination website, Visit the Vale free of charge. If you’re not already listed, get in touch and we’ll share details of how to do this.
You will be on our contact list to keep you up to date with all you should know when running a tourism business in the Vale of Glamorgan. This may include grant funding opportunities, consultations, changes to policy, opportunities to work with us, general updates to keep you informed etc.

We would ask that the survey is completed no later than 30thJanuary 2023. We are extremely thankful to you in advance of your support of this. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at tourism@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.
